The German tales
are based on the original texts of the brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm,
last version (1857),
and were carefully shortened, modernized, and synchronized, by Katja Mellmann, to fit with the pictures.
The English tales of
»Hänsel and Gretel«, »Snow-White«, »Cinderella«, »The Valiant Little Tailor«, »The Frog Prince«, »Mother Holle«, »The Bremen Town Musicians«, »Hans in Luck« and »The Wishing-Table« are based on the translation of
Lucy Crane, Household Stories, London 1882 (4th ed. 1899).
The tale of »The Seven Ravens« is based on the translation of
Mrs Edgar Lucas, Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm, London n.d. [1900].
All were carefully shortened, modernized, and synchronized, by Katja and Erika Mellmann, to fit with the pictures.
